¡Prepárense! National Hispanic Heritage Month is right around the corner!
National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated in the United States from September 15 through October 15. Prepare for this ahead of time by making a display for the hallway, labeling every classroom in the school with Spanish labels, and encouraging students to bring in trivia. Assign a day per student to be ready to bring in an interesting fact or piece of trivia about Hispanics that have contributed to American history or about important or interesting Hispanic Americans in the United States today. For example, how many Hispanics are currently contending for the Republican or Democrat nomination to the next Presidential election? Where are they or their family from? See if your students can read their fact/trivia on the morning announcements each day.
This is a 60 minute lesson plan for teaching the Spanish Alphabet. Designed for middle or high school, but I'm sure it could be used in elementary as well! 60 minutes is a conservative number. Some of the activities may go a little longer so this could even become 80 or 90 minutes (especially with transitions.) You could even split the plan up into 2 days as each activity is separate from the other.
This product includes: --2 sets of alphabet cards that may be printed onto card stock for display or use in the activities. (One of them uses my papel picado creation! Also, all are transparent, so you may change the color of the background.) --4 printable posters for display or just use as a Power Point slide. --15 separate activities (including a task-based partner worksheet with 5 activities) and a printable practice quiz.
Note: The Spanish alphabet used in this product reflects the changes established by the Real Academia Española as of 2010.
